The Distinguished Service Award is awarded to individuals who exhibit a continuous record of public service in public office, education, organization leadership and/or volunteerism that demonstrates dedication to encouraging and inspiring others to effectively engage in civic activities.
In 2012, Gov. Mitch Daniels was the recipient of this award for his long and distinguished public service record that illustrates the impact and effect an individual can have in the local, state and national levels of government. Previous honorees include former Indianapolis Mayor Bart Peterson and former Indiana Secretary of State and current U.S. Congressman, Todd Rokita.
